Our farm requires the staple of our favorite breed – the Norwegian Elkhound.
Here are a few of the reasons we love this breed:
Hardy
Elkhounds are a tough breed created to tolerate cold climates and rugged environments.
Loyal
We have yet to have an Elkhound that didn’t want to be by our side in some way, shape or form.
Smart
Often confused with stubborn, this breed is very logical and will find their own solution if necessary.
Medium Sized
Considered a medium-sized breed whose back typically stands about as tall as an average person’s knees.
Life Span
We usually see our dogs living until they are at least 15 years old from our experience.
Easy to Train
Since they are smart, it doesn’t take a lot to train them. It just takes consistent, clear directions.
